A Slice of Paradise: The Great Barrier Reef’s Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort

Lady Elliot Island has the only airstrip on the Great Barrier Reef — that’s because there’s no boat access due to its remote location off Australia.

Once you arrive, it doesn’t take long to realize why it’s regarded as one of the best snorkeling destinations on the reef with an amazing array of colorful marine life.

Day trips to Lady Elliot Island include return scenic flights to the Island, orientation tour, a glass bottom boat/guided snorkelling tour, snorkel equipment (mask, snorkel & fins), full use of day guest facilities, a hot and cold buffet lunch and an afternoon of snorkelling, leisure or joining our experienced guides for a guided activity/tour.

For overnight guests, the Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort features 41 rooms.

Lady Elliot Island has a goal to provide guests with life changing moments and world class experiences through natural encounters both above and below the water and by the delivery of engaging and educational activities.

The staff is always on hand to educate guests on how to enjoy the island’s fragile ecosystem with minimal impact.

The island team is happy to share their knowledge about renewable technologies as the island continues to introduce and expand sustainable eco-initiatives.

The Resort was established in 1984 when a series of prefabricated buildings were brought to the island and these buildings are still in use today. In keeping with the natural, eco-friendly lifestyle there are no telephones, television or radios and all rooms are fan-cooled.

The rooms are simple but comfortable and have everything you need for a nice and relaxing holiday.
